Assam CM Meets Amit Shah; Seeks Guidance for Upcoming Mega Business Summit

NEW DELHI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday at the latter’s residence in the national capital.

The meeting, which was more than 30 minutes long, discussed preparations for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit in Guwahati.

During the deliberation, CM Sarma apprised Home Minister Shah of the far-reaching steps initiated by the Assam government to make the two-day mega extravaganza a success. He highlighted initiatives for inviting participation from domestic and international investors, with the objective of drawing huge investments into major sectors of the state’s economy. The Chief Minister also elicited insightful advice from the Union Home Minister on the event.

Amit Shah praised CM Sarma for his hard work and careful planning, stating that he was confident that the summit would be a game-changer for Assam. He urged that the event can make Assam a central player in India’s economic growth, attracting it as an investment destination at the global level. Shah’s words bolstered the role of the summit in paving new avenues towards the development of the state.

In a mark of respect and tradition, the Union Home Minister was felicitated by Dr. Sarma with an Assamese mocha. The meeting highlighted the close cooperation between the central government and the state government in the pursuit of economic development in Assam.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25. The summit will highlight Assam’s investment opportunities, infrastructure, and business-friendly policies. The summit, with the active participation of leading industries and international investors, is likely to bring in a new wave of economic growth for the state.

Subsequently, on social media platform X, Dr. Sarma tweeted, “Today in New Delhi, I had the honor of meeting Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji to seek his guidance for #AdvantageAssam2.”

The summit is expected to provide new opportunities for industrial growth, job creation, and overall economic development for Assam. With the support of the central government and the guidance of Chief Minister Sarma, Advantage Assam 2.0 is likely to be a milestone event in the state’s business and investment scenario.
