GUWAHATI: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to land in Guwahati within a few hours, his visit is going to include a series of significant events.
In preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, a midnight inspection was conducted by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure that all arrangements are in place for the upcoming events. Local officials are working diligently to finalize the logistics and security measures necessary for a successful visit.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, accompanied by Heads of Mission and Ambassadors from 45 countries, enjoyed elephant and jeep safaris at Kaziranga National Park on February 24, ahead of the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati. Jaishankar expressed delight at witnessing the park’s wildlife, including rhinos and water buffaloes, and noted the increasing tourist numbers, which have surpassed 300,000 this year.
He also reiterated the need to popularize Assam and the Northeast as a destination for tourism and investment. The visit is ahead of the Jhumoir dance troupe’s celebration of 200 years of Assam Tea, when more than 8,000 dancers from tea tribes will dance for the dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Moreover, Advantage Assam 2.0 is a significant business summit to be held on February 25 to 26, 2025, in Guwahati that will accelerate Assam’s economic growth and promote investment. Government officials, business leaders and international delegates will converge for the event to unlock opportunities in trade, tourism and industry. Through networking and partnerships, the summit aims to raise Assam’s global standing and spur sustainable development in the state
