On Monday, the actor utilized his social media platforms to reveal the release date for “Raid 2,” which promises to deliver even more action and suspense in this eagerly awaited sequel. Ajay shared an intriguing poster from the film, showcasing himself, and stated, “Naya Shehar. Nayi File.
Aur Amay Patnaik Ki Ek Nayi Raid. #Raid2 knocking at your doors in cinemas near you on 1st May, 2025.” Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, “Raid 2” also features Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor. This sequel to the 2018 film “Raid” continues the story of IRS officer Amay Patnaik as he investigates another case of white-collar crime.
Like its predecessor, the sequel draws inspiration from actual income tax raids conducted by officers of the Income Tax Department in collaboration with intelligence agencies to tackle white-collar offenses. The film was officially announced in April 2020, with pre-production commencing in August 2022. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amay Patnaik from the original film.
In January 2024, Riteish was confirmed to play the antagonist, while Vaani joined the cast, taking over from Ileana D’Cruz. Recent reports indicate that the teaser for “Raid 2” will be unveiled alongside Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film “Sikandar,” which is set to premiere in theaters on March 30. Additionally, the ‘Omkara’ actor is also involved in the second installment of “Son of Sardaar,” which features Mrunal Thakur and Sanjay Dutt. The first “Son of Sardaar” was released in 2012 and starred Ajay, Sanjay, Sonakshi Sinha, and Juhi Chawla. Ajay was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama “Singham Again,” based on an original story by Kshitij Patwardhan.
