Assam’s Digboi Refinery has entered into six Memoranda of Understanding for Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and has contributed eight ambulances

DIGBOI: In a notable advancement for community development, the Digboi Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Assam Oil Division) has formalized six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the fiscal year 2024-25 and has also provided eight ambulances to local healthcare facilities.

The new projects encompass the TB Mukt Abhiyan, which offers nutritional assistance to 2,937 tuberculosis patients in Tinsukia; Menstrual Hygiene Services, developed in collaboration with the Paripoorna Learning Foundation for the Powai forest village; Ear & Hearing Care, in partnership with NHM-Assam and DDSF to supply hearing aids and enhance accessibility; Sustainable Organic Farming, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Digboi to advocate for environmentally friendly practices; Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation, in cooperation with DFO Digboi and the NGO ‘We For You’; and a De-addiction Centre aimed at rehabilitating young males facing substance abuse issues.

The refinery boasts a robust history of social responsibility, having initiated projects such as the Assam Oil School & College of Nursing, the Gyandoya Scholarship Scheme, the AOD Hospital, rural sports stadiums, and health camps. The event held at the Golden Jubilee Complex was attended by Digboi MLA Suren Phukan, Executive Director Rahul Prasant, and other senior officials.

In a related effort, the Bongaigaon Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited recently delivered 13 ambulances to the Joint Director of Health Services in Chirang, further demonstrating the refinery’s dedication to social responsibility and enhancing healthcare access for the communities in its vicinity.
