In a heartbreaking event, a woman tragically lost her life in a road accident in Baksa District, Lower Assam. The incident occurred on the Indo-Bhutan Road near the Sannyasi Shivadham Temple, where her husband sustained injuries after their motorcycle collided with a stray cow.
Reports indicate that the couple was returning home after performing a puja for their newly acquired Pulsar bike, seeking blessings for safety and prosperity. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Minoti Kalita from Pathsala in Bajali District, was fatally injured when a stray cow unexpectedly appeared in their path, causing her husband to lose control of the vehicle.
This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by stray animals on roadways. Local residents have expressed growing concern over the increasing presence of stray cattle, which frequently contribute to accidents in the area, urging authorities to take swift action to enhance commuter safety. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta for a postmortem examination.
