GUWAHATI: Assam has achieved a significant milestone in its power sector, with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) securing the second position in the latest national DISCOM rankings, trailing only Andhra Pradesh. This notable accomplishment was revealed by the Ministry of Power, which evaluates power distribution companies across India based on various critical criteria.
Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed his pride in this achievement on the social media platform X, emphasizing the state’s commitment to enhancing its power distribution capabilities and striving for excellence. The annual rankings evaluate DISCOMs on several dimensions, including financial sustainability, operational performance, and adaptability to evolving circumstances. APDCL’s strong showing included a 10th place in Consumer Service Rating (CSDR), an 8th position in the 13th Integrated Ratings Report among state utilities, and a commendable 4th place in the State Utility Rankings.
These achievements collectively bolstered its overall national standing. This recognition highlights APDCL’s proactive measures in minimizing transmission losses and enhancing customer satisfaction, reflecting Assam’s resolve to modernize its power infrastructure. The improved ranking signifies the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure financially sustainable operations and a reliable power supply for both urban and rural consumers.
