BOKAKHAT: The recent results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination have highlighted the resilience of students from Mahura mauza in Bokakhat, demonstrating that financial hardship does not hinder educational achievement. Deepamoni Loing, a young girl from the impoverished Bartika village, excelled in her HSLC exams at Bonguwal High School, achieving first division with letter marks in two subjects, despite her family’s challenging economic circumstances.
Her father, Tikheswar Loing, works as a daily-wage laborer, while her mother, Aiti Loing, is a homemaker. The family’s joy over Deepamoni’s success is tempered by anxiety about financing her higher education, which now poses a significant financial challenge. Similarly, Bishwaranjan Moran, the son of local singer Bishwajit Moran and Seema Moran, also achieved first division with letter marks in three subjects from Bonguwal High School.
His family’s financial instability, stemming from his father’s sporadic income from singing and farming a small plot of land, leaves them worried about the costs associated with Bishwaranjan’s further studies. Maxima Taid, another standout student from the same village, passed her HSLC exams with star marks and letter grades in six subjects from Mahuramukh Higher Secondary School. Despite her father being a private school teacher, their financial situation remains precarious, and Maxima’s daily five-kilometer trek to school exemplifies her dedication to education amidst adversity.
Her family shares the same concerns regarding the funding of her higher education. Lastly, Sagar Moran, son of driver Kumbal Moran and housewife Mamata Moran, also achieved first division from Bartika Ofola High School. His unwavering commitment to his studies, despite the family’s financial struggles, has now left them contemplating how to support his aspirations for higher education.
