DIPHU: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to visit the Karbi Anglong district on Thursday to launch a series of development initiatives totaling over Rs 100 crore. The Chief Minister highlighted that these projects aim to improve connectivity in the area and honor local unsung heroes. In a message posted on X, CM Sarma remarked, “I will soon be in Karbi Anglong to inaugurate a range of projects worth over Rs 100 crore for the community.
These initiatives will enhance connectivity, appropriately recognize unsung heroes, and improve the region’s aesthetic appeal.” The projects are designed to celebrate local heritage and elevate the natural and cultural beauty of the area, signaling a new era of development. On the previous day, the Assam Chief Minister announced his intention to upgrade the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital into one of the largest medical institutions in the nation.
He disclosed that the forthcoming Mother and Child Care Hospital on the GMCH campus will offer specialized pediatric services and will feature 800 beds, providing advanced treatment as part of a comprehensive restructuring initiative for GMCH. Additionally, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction of the Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital, which is expected to become operational by August 15 of this year. Sarma also underscored the Assam government’s commitment to preserving indigenous faiths, noting that over Rs 40 crore has been allocated in the past two years to support temples and prayer halls of indigenous communities.
