Assam: Tezpur University has been awarded the esteemed ANRF-PAIR grant

TEZPUR: Tezpur University has received a substantial grant from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). This funding falls under the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) initiative. The ANRF was established by the Government of India to foster a dynamic research and innovation environment within the country’s universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D laboratories.

The PAIR grant is specifically designed to enhance the research capabilities of promising institutions through a Hub and Spoke model. In the initial phase of the PAIR program, three central universities and three state universities have been paired together. Tezpur Central University, along with the Central University of Punjab, has been designated as a ‘Spoke’ institution, while Jawaharlal Nehru University has been chosen as the Hub institution. The other institutions in this first cohort include Berhampur University, Cotton University, and Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University. Tezpur University’s successful proposal highlighted innovative research initiatives across various fields within Science and Engineering, concentrating on three key thematic areas: advanced materials, molecular and synthetic biology, and environmental sustainability.

The development of this extensive proposal was a collaborative effort involving 14 departments of the University and the active engagement of 58 faculty members, demonstrating significant teamwork and dedication. The compelling presentation, which underscored the university’s research vision and capabilities, was led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Shambhu Nath Singh and Dr. Pritam Deb, the IPR Chair Professor and team lead, at the Indian Academy of Sciences in Bangalore, in front of the committee chairman, K Radhakrishnan, the former chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation.
