GUWAHATI: The Assam government has achieved a significant milestone by receiving the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. This prestigious accolade was awarded in the ‘Innovation-state’ category on April 21 during the Civil Services Day celebrations, recognizing the state’s innovative education initiative, ‘Shiksha Setu, Axom.’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally presented the award, underscoring the initiative’s impact on the education sector. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his pride in receiving the award and extended his congratulations to the dedicated team behind the initiative. The ‘Shiksha Setu’ application serves as a comprehensive digital platform, functioning as a centralized database that contains essential information about schools, students, and teachers. Its purpose is to streamline administrative processes within the state, thereby elevating the quality of educational activities.
Additionally, Tinsukia district commissioner Swapneel Paul was honored with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 in the category of “Holistic Development of Districts.” Paul, an IAS officer from the 2018 batch, received the award from the Prime Minister at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, marking a historic achievement as the first district commissioner from Tinsukia to be recognized in this manner.
