Pona Gogoi, aged 86, a retired headmaster and dedicated social worker from Bordihingia in Kamargaon, passed away this morning due to age-related health issues. He was the former headmaster of Mahura High School and is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters. His remains were taken to Kamargaon Higher Secondary School, where various local organizations paid their respects.
Throughout his life, Gogoi made significant contributions by donating books to the Ghanakanta Saikia and Tileshwari Saikia Memorial Library, as well as supporting numerous community events. This afternoon, tributes were paid at his residence by several organizations, including Bordihingia Bor Namghar, Kamargaon College, Kamargaon Girls’ High School, the Xahitya Xabha, Senior Citizens’ Forum, Annapurna Theatre, Bordihingia Women’s Association, and others. Pona Gogoi was a prominent figure in the educational landscape of Kamargaon, earning widespread respect for his unwavering dedication to education and community service.
