In Dibrugarh, the Indian Army organized a series of health awareness initiatives in Tipong, Daisajan, and Makum, Tinsukia district, Assam, to commemorate World Asthma Day. These initiatives, centered on the theme ‘Awareness about Asthma and Respiratory Health,’ aimed to educate and empower local communities with essential knowledge regarding respiratory health. Over 340 individuals participated, including 132 villagers, 203 school students, and 10 teachers, highlighting the Army’s dedication to proactive healthcare and community development in the area. At Tipong, health professionals from the Indian Army facilitated an interactive session designed for inclusivity, addressing common misconceptions about asthma, preventive measures, and providing live demonstrations on the proper use of inhalers and emergency responses during asthma attacks.
Concurrently, at the Daisajan camp, a comprehensive health lecture was held to enhance awareness of early symptoms, common triggers, and effective management strategies. This session included open discussions, allowing attendees to share personal experiences and receive practical guidance from medical experts. At Assam Heights Public School in Makum, the awareness session witnessed enthusiastic involvement from 120 students and 10 faculty members. The Medical Officer delivered an engaging lecture on asthma prevention, followed by a question-and-answer segment where students posed insightful questions and shared their observations. These outreach initiatives exemplify the Indian Army’s comprehensive approach to national service, prioritizing not only the protection of borders but also the health and well-being of citizens. The events concluded with participants collectively pledging to adopt healthier lifestyles and promote asthma awareness within their communities.
