The Chief Minister of Assam has instructed the police to maintain vigilance in anticipation of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind delegation’s visit to Goalpara

Goalpara: On Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the state police will exercise heightened vigilance during the upcoming visit of a Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind delegation to Goalpara district.

The delegation is anticipated to arrive shortly to evaluate the situation in the region, following recent administrative measures that have attracted the attention of community organizations. In a media briefing, CM Sarma underscored the state government’s dedication to preserving peace and order throughout the delegation’s visit. Law enforcement has been instructed to remain on high alert and to take all necessary actions to prevent any disruption of law and order. “The visit will be closely monitored,” stated the Chief Minister.

He further noted that while the delegation is permitted to engage with the public and collect information, any efforts to instigate unrest or provoke communal discord will be met with zero tolerance. The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is a significant Muslim organization recognized for its involvement in social and legal matters affecting the community. Their visit occurs amidst rising concerns from various sectors regarding recent administrative actions in Goalpara, including eviction initiatives and scrutiny related to citizenship.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s position of zero tolerance towards any form of incitement or misinformation and urged citizens to remain composed and cooperate with the authorities. Additional security measures and coordination with local administration have been confirmed by officials.
