A Class 10 student in Silapathar, Assam, has tragically taken his own life after a dispute with his girlfriend

A deeply distressing event has reverberated through the town of Silapathar in Assam, following the tragic suicide of 16-year-old Shivajit Nandi on April 5. The young student, who was in the 10th grade, was discovered hanging in his home located in Majarbari Jamalpur village, leaving his family and the local community in a state of shock and disbelief.

Known for his kind and affectionate nature, Shivajit’s decision to take his own life has left many questioning the circumstances surrounding his death. According to family members, he had been in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl from the area, and it is reported that a heated argument took place between the two over the phone shortly before his tragic act.

In a disturbing revelation, CCTV footage from Shivajit’s residence captured the moment he inflicted multiple stab wounds upon himself while recording the incident on his mobile device, allegedly to demonstrate something to his girlfriend. The Nandi family believes that the girl played a significant role in influencing Shivajit’s state of mind, ultimately leading him to this desperate measure. Shivajit’s mother is devastated by the loss of her only child, and the family has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Silapathar Police Station.

However, they feel that the authorities are not treating the case with the urgency it warrants. There is a growing public outcry for the girl to be apprehended, as many believe that her involvement could shed light on the tragic events that unfolded.
