A fire erupted today at approximately 2 PM in the Tarani region of Karani Hola, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Komargaon Police Station in the Bokakhat subdivision. The blaze resulted in significant destruction. For an extended period, various migratory birds, such as herons, had sought refuge in the peatlands of Tarani.
The area also provided shelter for pythons and other snakes due to the abundance of prey. Tragically, the fire resulted in the loss of numerous birds, their chicks, and many snakes. The presence of peat complicated firefighting efforts. Nevertheless, local residents, police officers, and firefighters collaborated to contain the flames. Thanks to their collective efforts, several shops were preserved. The precise cause of the fire is still undetermined, although some individuals were observed cutting trees in the vicinity earlier that afternoon.
It is noteworthy that the residents of Karani Hola had previously taken measures to protect the birds. Recently, several pythons were rescued from this area, and there was even an instance of a bear seeking refuge in Karani Hola.
