Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s former secretary, Vedika Shetty, has been apprehended for defrauding the actress of Rs. 77 lakh. According to a statement from the Mumbai Police, Alia’s ex-secretary Vedika Shetty was arrested by the Juhu Police in Mumbai in relation to a fraud case involving Rs. 7.7 million linked to the star.
The police initiated this case several months ago following a complaint lodged by Alia’s mother, the renowned actress Soni Razdan. Approximately five months after the case was filed, the suspect was apprehended in Bengaluru and subsequently presented in court on Tuesday. The court has placed Shetty in police custody until July 10. The Juhu Police have filed a case and taken Vedika Prakash Shetty into custody under Sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). After perpetrating the fraud, Vedika fled.
She is accused of forging Alia’s signature and executing a fraud amounting to Rs. 76.9 lakh over a span of two years. According to media reports, Shetty served as Alia’s secretary from 2021 to 2024. During her tenure, she managed the star’s financial documents and payments, as well as organized her schedule. The actress has yet to comment on the matter. In the meantime, Alia is currently engaged in filming her forthcoming movie “Alpha,” in which she portrays a spy. The film also features Sharvari.
In other news, Alia has recently expressed her admiration for the initial glimpse of her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, portraying Lord Ram in “Ramayana.” She took to her Instagram account to share the teaser of the first look from the film, stating, “Some things don’t need words. This feels like the start of something unforgettable. Diwali 2026 — we’re waiting.” The film’s creators unveiled the highly anticipated first look of Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash from their forthcoming movie Ramayana on July 3.
