Bollywood composer and singer Amaal Mallik surprised many when he revealed his decision to distance himself from his family while dealing with clinical depression. Following his announcement, numerous messages of concern flooded in for the artist. Subsequently, Amaal expressed his gratitude to his fans and supporters on social media, while urging the media to refrain from harassing his family.
He requested that the media avoid sensationalizing his situation and creating negative headlines regarding his vulnerability. In his message, he stated, “I appreciate the love and support; it truly means a lot. However, I kindly ask media outlets not to harass my family. Please do not sensationalize or create negative headlines about my struggles. This is my request.” Amaal also addressed his younger brother, singer Armaan Mallik, affirming that their relationship remains unchanged. He shared, “It has taken a lot for me to be open about my feelings, and this is a challenging time for me. I will always love my family, but for now, I need to maintain some distance. Nothing alters the bond between us brothers; Armaan and I are united, and nothing can sever that connection. Love and peace.”
On Thursday, Amaal took to Instagram to discuss his mental health challenges, revealing that he is clinically depressed and that his self-esteem has been affected by the actions of those close to him. In a detailed post, he attributed the rift between him and his brother Armaan to his parents, composer Daboo Malik and singer Jyoti Malik. Amaal, who is the nephew of Bollywood composer Anu Mallik, expressed, “I find myself at a point where my peace has been taken from me, leaving me emotionally and perhaps financially drained, though that is the least of my worries. What truly matters is that I am clinically depressed due to these circumstances.”
Amaal expressed in a now-deleted post that he takes full responsibility for his actions; however, he noted that his self-esteem has been repeatedly undermined by the behavior of those close to him, which has taken a toll on his spirit. He also mentioned that he is distancing himself from these personal relationships and will limit his interactions with family to a strictly professional nature moving forward. (Agencies)
