Assam: Dr. Ranoj Pegu Provides Smartphones to Anganwadi Workers in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: In a notable advancement towards enhancing digital governance in nutrition services, Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu distributed smartphones to Anganwadi workers in Sivasagar. The distribution event, which took place at Sukapha Conference Hall, was organized by the District Social Welfare Office with assistance from the district administration. Its purpose was to facilitate digital nutrition tracking under the Poshan Abhiyaan.

The smartphones will allow for real-time data entry via the Poshan Tracker app, thereby improving the monitoring of child and maternal nutrition throughout the district. Key officials, including the deputy commissioner and heads of departments from ICDS and Social Welfare, were present at the event.

Dr. Pegu reaffirmed the government’s dedication to equipping frontline workers with digital resources and emphasized the importance of data in addressing malnutrition and enhancing child development outcomes. Additionally, on March 9, Dr. Ranoj Pegu provided financial support to indigenous places of worship under the Department of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture at the GMCH auditorium in Guwahati. The minister allocated Rs 5 crore to All Bathou Mohasabha (ABM) for its ongoing Heritage Centre construction at Gorchuk in Guwahati for the financial year 2024-25, Rs 50 lakh for the ABM’s triennial conference, and Rs 10 lakh each as the second installment for five tribal institutions.
