GUWAHATI: Gauhati University has once again confirmed its reputation as a reliable academic institution in the region by successfully administering the B.Ed Common Entrance Test (GUBEDCET-2025) on Sunday, July 20. A remarkable 96.58% of the total registered candidates participated in the examination, highlighting the persistent confidence students have in the university.
This year, 15,282 candidates registered for the B.Ed entrance exam, with 14,760 actually taking part. The exam was conducted smoothly across 18 centres in 16 cities of Assam, including a significant group of 3,332 candidates at the Gauhati University centre alone. Professor Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, stated, “The substantial participation in GUBEDCET-2025 is a testament to the increasing trust and aspirations students associate with Gauhati University. Our mission has always been to inspire, enable, and empower students, and this response motivates us to continue elevating our standards.”
Gauhati University, which recently gained international recognition in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 and received NAAC A+ accreditation, has consistently taken measures to broaden educational access and enhance academic impact throughout the Northeast. Dr. Utpal Sarma, Registrar of Gauhati University, remarked, “The successful and seamless execution of GUBEDCET-2025 demonstrates the university’s careful planning and dedication to academic excellence. We express our gratitude to all stakeholders for facilitating a smooth process and wish all candidates the very best.” This achievement closely follows the university’s successful administration of its postgraduate entrance examinations held earlier this month, which attracted over 42,000 applications for approximately 4,500 seats.
