Assam: Holi was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Doomdooma

The Daul Utsab was commemorated with great enthusiasm and spiritual devotion by the Doomdooma Asamiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti (DAPANMS).

The Daul Utsab was observed by the Doomdooma Asamiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti (DAPANMS) on Thursday and Friday, marking nine consecutive years of vibrant celebration and deep religious devotion. However, the event was postponed on March 13 in remembrance of Nagen Talukdar, a kettle-drum player and esteemed religious figure within DAPANMS, who passed away unexpectedly. On the morning of March 14, the Daul Puja took place at the DAPANMS premises, where devotees were offered the Lord’s Nirmali following the completion of the ceremony. Subsequently, approximately one hundred devotees, including President Jiten Deka, Secretary Arup Jyoti Deka, Organising Secretary Kuladhar Barman, and others, paraded through the town with the idols of Radha-Krishna. The devotees predominantly utilized dry faku (Holi color), in stark contrast to the harmful chemical-based faku often employed by many, particularly the youth, during Holi festivities.
