Assam: Man Reportedly Murders Wife and Son with Machete Following Domestic Conflict

GUWAHATI: In a shocking turn of events, Shahjahan Khandakar, a resident of Mathgharia in Guwahati, is accused of violently assaulting his wife, Rishima Begum, and their five-year-old son, Shahzad Khandakar, with a machete during a fit of rage.

Shahjahan, who had been residing in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, with his family for several years, had no consistent source of income, relying instead on the financial support provided by Rishima and their 13-year-old son. The situation escalated on Friday when the elder son failed to attend work, leading to a fierce argument between Shahjahan and Rishima.

The conflict took a tragic turn later that night when Rishima prepared a meal for their elder son, which infuriated Shahjahan. Following the elder son’s departure from the home, Shahjahan brutally attacked both Rishima and Shahzad, resulting in their deaths. In a separate but equally tragic incident, a man in Assam was reported to have murdered his wife, Neshiya Begum, and their three-year-old son, Sahadkar Khandkar, on April 12.

Reports indicate that Neshiya was fatally stabbed, while her young son was strangled. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ayodhya, Rajkaran Nayyar, these horrific events stemmed from a domestic dispute, after which the husband allegedly killed Neshiya and subsequently fled the scene.
