GAURISAGAR: One person was killed in a road mishap that took place near Jhanji Lefera village on NH61 under Gaurisagar Police Station in Sivasagar district on Sunday night. The victim was identified as Madhab Hazarika (37 years), son of Paniram Hazarika of Chikirichuk Village in Jhanji, Sivasagar. According to reports, Hazarika was going towards Amguri from Jhanji on his Hero Glamour motorcycle bearing registration No. AS04P4793 when he suddenly hit a dumper truck which was parked on the roadside near Jhanji Lefera Village.
After the accident, the dumper truck fled from the spot. With the help of local people, Gaurisagar Police took Hazarika to the Sivasagar Civil Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries there. The victim was a carpenter by profession, who lived in a rented house in Amguri town. He is survived by his wife and a minor son.
