BOKAKAKHAT: The celebration of Bishnu Rabha Day took place on Saturday at Paduli, situated in Bordihingia within the larger Kamargaon area of Bokakhat co-district, organized by Paduli with the support of the local women’s society.
According to the program schedule, the flag was raised by Paduli President Basanta Dhekial Phukan and the chairperson of the celebration committee, Noni Hazarika. This was succeeded by a memorial tribute session led by notable social workers Ranu Dhekial Phukan, Lili Duara, Hemda Hazarika, Samiran Gogoi, and Priyakshi Hazarika. A commemorative poetry recitation competition honoring the distinguished academician Late Paran Gogoi was inaugurated by Dr. Gayatri Bora Kakati, Head of the English Department at Kamargaon College. The Rabha Sangeet competition, dedicated to musician Sadhan Hazarika, was inaugurated by Prof. Nitul Kumar Bora, Head of the Sociology Department at the same institution.
The creative dance competition, in memory of artists Diganta Duara and Philip Hazarika, was inaugurated by the acclaimed artist Rakhi Acharya. In the junior category of the poetry recitation competition, the first, second, and third prizes were awarded to Bishalakshi Baruah, Mugdhannwesha Phukan, and jointly to Trishna Hazarika and Joynil Baruah. The encouragement prize was given to Kasturi Dhekial Phukan, Dikshashruti Phukan, and Tanistha Duara.
In the senior category, a special award was presented to Twinkle Hazarika. In the essay competition held for women, Seema Bora Bakakiyal secured the first prize, Sonali Baruah the second, and the third prize was shared by Julie Dhekial Phukan and Tultul Saikia. The encouragement award was awarded to Nayanmoni Deka. In the Rabha Sangeet competition, Krityik Patbe achieved the first position, Ujjal Barman the second, and Bhagya Shree Saikia the third. The fourth to sixth places were claimed by Kristina Barukiyal, Dipen Baniya, and Sudipta Gogoi, respectively.
In the junior division of the creative dance competition, Arpan Laskabe achieved first place, with Aradhya Baruah and Anshupriya Bora sharing second place, and Tanistha Tamuli taking third. In the senior division, Sumeet Choudhary claimed first place, followed by Kripanvita Burhagohain and Ankita Bora in second, while Bhaswati Burhagohain and Brishti Phukan shared third place. After the competitions, a prize distribution ceremony took place, attended by esteemed guests such as retired principal Mahen Saikia, prominent writer Lokda Hazarika, teachers Pranjal Hazarika and Mahen Doley, and student leaders Amrit Sagar and Lachit Kakati, among others. During the ceremony, the organizing committee extended grand felicitations to celebrated sculptor Lokeshwar Hazarika, veteran actors Rajiv Saikia and Apurba Hazarika, as well as the emerging young artist from the mobile theatre, Dhrubajyoti Dhekial Phukan.
