DIBRUGARH: On Tuesday, the warriors of the Spear Corps engaged in a vibrant celebration of Rongali Bihu alongside local communities in Phillobari and Margherita, located in the Tinsukia district of Assam. This festive occasion attracted more than 350 residents, creating a lively atmosphere characterized by a rich tapestry of tradition, joy, and a spirit of civil-military collaboration.
In Phillobari, the festivities were centered around the theme of ‘Gratitude for Harvest, Community, and the Start of New Beginnings.’ The event showcased an array of colorful Bihu dances and musical performances, featuring talented school students and local youth. This celebration not only highlighted cultural pride but also encouraged youth participation and inclusivity, drawing enthusiastic involvement from schools, women’s groups, and local artisans.
Meanwhile, in Margherita, a unique Bihu interaction took place with villagers from Malugaon, Jharna Basti, Ledo Market, and surrounding areas. This gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate Assam’s rich cultural heritage while fostering trust and rapport between the Indian Army and the local community. The event concluded with a tea party, which added a personal touch to the festive interactions.
