DIBRUGARH: On Thursday, May 29, Assam Cabinet Minister Atul Bora officially launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Dibrugarh, initiating a 15-day national campaign designed to modernize Indian agriculture. The inauguration ceremony took place at Mancotta Field, where Minister Bora ceremonially flagged off two campaign vehicles, accompanied by Cabinet Minister Bimal Borah, Dibrugarh District Commissioner Bikram Kairi (IAS), Dibrugarh University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jiten Hazarika, and senior officials from various departments including agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, dairy, and other related sectors.

The campaign in Dibrugarh is being executed with the assistance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Romai, along with district-level departments such as Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Dairy Development, and the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM). It aims to directly engage approximately 10,400 farmers throughout the district via outreach and awareness initiatives. This nationwide effort, initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in partnership with the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), seeks to connect with around 1.5 crore farmers. The campaign, which involves the deployment of over 2,000 teams of scientists across more than 700 districts, emphasizes the promotion of modern agricultural practices, the dissemination of information regarding government schemes, and the collection of feedback and suggestions from farmers at the grassroots level.
