The body of Musharraf Alam, a 17-year-old from Sowaguri village, was recovered from the Brahmaputra River after four days. He had gone missing during the Bihu festival while attempting to save a friend who was struggling in the water.
The recovery took place in the riverine area between Panpur and Silghat, conducted by a patrolling team from the forest department. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been engaged in rescue operations for four days, with assistance from local residents. Family members of the victim arrived at the site and confirmed the identity of the body as that of Musharraf.
In a separate incident, Chumi Pradhan, a 27-year-old from Gohpur, tragically lost her life in a road accident near Chengagaon on NH15, which connects Rajgarh to Barigaon along the Assam-Arunachal border, on Sunday morning. Reports indicate that she was riding on a scooter with her friend Tutumani Nath, aged 26, from Deonabari, when their vehicle was struck from behind by a Scorpio. Chumi, who was seated at the back, died instantly as a result of the collision. Tutumani Nath sustained serious injuries and was taken to Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital for medical attention.
