DIBRUGARH: Union Minister and Dibrugarh MP Sarbananda Sonowal is set to lay the foundation stone for 37 paying cabins at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Oil India Limited (OIL).
The project was initiated and processed in 2019-20 by Dr. Pranjit Pran Barua, retired Executive Director and then GM (Medical Services) of Oil India Limited, Duliajan. During that time, Prof. H.K. Goswami was serving as the principal of AMCH.
The initiative aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure at AMCH, providing better facilities for patients seeking premium healthcare services. The cabins will improve patient care and offer modern amenities for those opting for paid services at the hospital.
OIL’s CSR initiative highlights its commitment to supporting the healthcare sector in Assam. The development is expected to significantly benefit the people of Upper Assam, especially Dibrugarh and its nearby regions.
Local authorities and health officials have welcomed the move, stating that the upgraded infrastructure will strengthen the hospital’s services and cater to the growing demand for quality healthcare facilities.
Similarly, Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for the second Ayurvedic College of Assam last year in March. Sonowal also laid foundation stones for the construction of two 50-bedded Ayush hospitals at Mowamarirjhar in Kokrajhar and at Silbari in Baksa, virtually from Dudhnoi.
