Assam’s initiative to combat child marriage was highlighted

New Delhi: Assam’s unwavering initiative to eliminate child marriage garnered praise during the NDA Chief Ministers’ Conclave in New Delhi. At the Conclave, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, Assam received significant commendation from the Prime Minister for the government’s vigorous and persistent efforts to eradicate child marriage from the state.

This information was revealed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference at the Assam House on Monday evening. The Chief Minister, who showcased the state’s exemplary practices in combating child marriage, received accolades from the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers of NDA-governed states.

He provided a comprehensive presentation on how the state has successfully curtailed child marriage through the actions of the Assam Police and the support of the community. Prime Minister Modi praised the initiative taken by the Assam Chief Minister and encouraged the Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states to replicate the effective measures implemented by Assam to eliminate the issue of child marriage, thereby promoting a healthier nation.

Modi also invited the chief ministers to visit Assam to witness firsthand how the state has effectively addressed child marriage through the dedicated and coordinated efforts of its police force, as stated in a press release.
