Cachar Police in Assam confiscate narcotics valued at 4 crore rupees

In Silchar, the Cachar Police conducted three separate operations resulting in the confiscation of significant amounts of narcotics across various locations in the district, as reported by SP Numol Mahatta. Following a credible tip-off, the police team intercepted an auto rickshaw on the Silchar-Mizoram road near Sildubi on Wednesday, leading to the seizure of 10,000 Yaba tablets and the arrest of one individual, Shahid Ahmed Laskar from Bansgaon Dholai.

In a separate incident, the Cachar Police executed a search at the residence of a suspected drug dealer, Joydeep Das, located near SMCH, who is also reportedly linked to minor organized crime involving mobile phone theft. During this raid, authorities confiscated 520 empty vials along with 39 vials containing approximately 2 grams of heroin. Additionally, on April 21, Cachar Police apprehended Salim Uddin from Katigorah near the 16 No. Basti on the Salganga River RCC Bridge, recovering 10,000 Yaba tablets from his possession. Mahatta indicated that the total estimated value of the seized drugs is no less than Rs 4 crore.
