The government would provide ₹11,500 crore in the 2024 budget to control floods in Bihar and aid Assam, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
Budget 2024 focuses on rehabilitation and irrigation projects, and financial assistance for Bihar, Assam, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Assam grapples with floods every year due to the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries originating outside India. “We will provide assistance to Assam for flood management and related projects,” Sitharaman said during the budget speech.
