Comedian Samay Raina, who faced a public indecency scandal last month, has postponed his return to India and adjusted his tour schedule accordingly. On Thursday, Raina shared an update via his Instagram Stories, announcing the rescheduling of his India tour. He reassured ticket holders that refunds would be processed soon. He stated, “Hello everyone, I’m rescheduling my India tour. Refunds will be issued shortly, and I look forward to seeing you soon.”
This announcement follows the controversy surrounding ‘India’s Got Latent,’ which captured national attention last month amid ongoing social unrest following the release of ‘Chhaava.’ The uproar was triggered by comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia regarding parents and sexual topics during an episode of Raina’s show, which went viral and led to significant public backlash. In a recorded segment, Allahbadia posed the provocative question, “Would you rather watch your parents having sex or join them once and end it forever?” In response to the public outcry, several police complaints were lodged against Allahbadia and others involved with the show in both Mumbai and Guwahati.
The cyber cell and Mumbai police are currently conducting independent investigations into Allahbadia’s statements made on Raina’s YouTube program, ‘India’s Got Latent.’ Additionally, a team from Assam Police traveled to Mumbai last month to further the investigation and met with officials from the Maharashtra cyber cell. Previously, Ranveer expressed concerns for his safety, noting that individuals had intruded into his mother’s clinic.
He took to Instagram to share a message stating, “My team and I are collaborating with the police and all relevant authorities. I will adhere to the legal process and remain accessible to all agencies. My comments regarding parents were inappropriate and disrespectful. It is my ethical duty to improve, and I sincerely apologize. I am receiving numerous death threats from individuals expressing a desire to harm me and my family. Additionally, people have infiltrated my mother’s clinic under the guise of patients.”
Despite this, he conveyed his confidence in India’s judicial system, asserting that he will stand firm against those who threaten him. He added, “I am feeling frightened and uncertain about my next steps. However, I will not flee. I have complete trust in the police and the judicial system of India.” In the meantime, Samay Raina is currently outside of India and has thus far avoided legal proceedings. (IANS)
