Disney and Pixar studios are currently developing an animated sequel to the film Coco

Disney has officially announced that a sequel to the cherished animated film ‘Coco’ is currently in development. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Coco 2’ is set to hit theaters in 2029. This exciting update was shared by Disney CEO Bob Iger during the company’s Annual Shareholder Meeting, generating enthusiasm among fans and investors alike.

Although the project is still in its preliminary phases, Iger’s announcement has sparked anticipation for further information. “While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart, and adventure, and we can’t wait to share more soon,” Iger stated, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. The sequel will reunite key members of the original creative team, including director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen, who has previously contributed to ‘Toy Story 4’ and ‘Inside Out 2’, will take on the role of producer for this eagerly awaited film.

Released in 2017, ‘Coco’ quickly became a classic, receiving widespread praise for its stunning animation, deep cultural narrative, and memorable music. The story centers on Miguel, a 12-year-old boy with aspirations of becoming a musician, who finds himself unexpectedly transported to the ‘Land of the Dead’.
