In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has emphasized the need to direct inquiries towards the nation responsible for exporting terrorism across borders, rather than towards the nation that is merely responding. He expressed on his Instagram that a nation’s right to defend itself against terrorism should not be misconstrued as a desire for conflict. Supporters of a robust response are not warmongers; they are individuals who prioritize security and justice. Mukundan highlighted the significant moral distinction between unprovoked aggression and necessary defense, asserting that when innocent lives are lost due to a deliberate act of terror, a measured response is a duty rather than an option. He stated, ‘Pursuing peace does not equate to enduring harm in silence.
It is not the nation that retaliates that should be questioned, but rather the one that instigates terror across borders.’ His remarks came amidst heightened conflict, with Pakistani forces launching multiple drone attacks and violating ceasefires along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Armed Forces successfully countered these drone assaults, delivering a strong response to the aggressor. On the professional front, Unni Mukundan, enjoying the success of several hit films such as the Malayalam action entertainer ‘Marco’ and the Tamil action drama ‘Garudan’, has recently announced his intention to direct a superhero film as his debut project.
The actor revealed that the film is set to be produced by Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies, with co-production by V C Praveen and Baiju Gopalan. Unni mentioned that the script will be written by Maverick Midhun Manuel Thomas, and Krishnettan will serve as the executive producer. He indicated that he plans to commence work on this superhero film after fulfilling his obligations in Telugu cinema, noting that pre-production is currently underway and filming is scheduled to start next year.
