Dr. Debajit Dutta has been appointed as the Secretary for Sports and Culture of IMA Assam

GUWAHATI: In a notable development, Dr. Debajit Dutta has been appointed as the Honorary State Secretary for Sports and Culture of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Assam State Branch for the term 2025–27. This appointment was officially announced during the 169th State Working Committee Meeting of IMA Assam, which took place at the ESI Hospital/Medical College in Guwahati.

Dr. Dutta’s commitment, leadership, and ongoing contributions to the medical and cultural sectors of the state have led to his selection for this esteemed position. His appointment has been positively received by colleagues and supporters throughout Assam, acknowledging his proactive role in fostering holistic wellness, sportsmanship, and community involvement within the medical community. The Indian Medical Association’s State Working Committee praised his initiatives in connecting medicine with significant extracurricular activities, particularly in the areas of culture and sports, which are crucial components of wellness that are frequently neglected in the medical profession.

In a related note, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) appointed Dr. Sangrang Brahma as the secretary of the Youth Wing UPPL during a meeting at its party headquarters in Kokrajhar earlier in February. He has served as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro since 2020 and received a warm welcome from the party.
