Lovelina Borgohain was born on 2 October 1997, and hails from the Golaghat district of Assam.Lovlina, as the youngest of three sister-siblings, got interested in boxing after seeing her twin sisters, Licha and Lima take up kickboxing and followed the same trail. The Sports Authority of India held trials at her high school Barpathar Girls High School, where Borgohain participated. She was noticed and selected by renowned Coach Padum Chandra Bodo at the SAI STC Guwahati from 2012 to learn basics of boxing and to achieve the excellence in boxing. She was later coached by Sandhya Gurung.

Lachit Barphukan was a Commander of Ahom Dynasty, known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat that thwarted an invasion by Mughal forces under the command of Ramsingh I. Lachit Barphukan’s Statue at his maidam in Jorhat, Assam, India. Lachit Divas is celebrated on November 24 every year in Assam to commemorate the heroism of Lachit Borphukan and the victory of the Assamese army at the Battle of Saraighat.

Bhupen Hazarika ( ভূপেন হাজৰিকা; 8 September 1926 – 5 November 2011) was an Assamese singer, composer, lyricist, music director, filmmaker and politician from the Indian state of Assam. His style of music influenced many people throughout India and in the neighboring countries.

Jyoti Prasad Agarwala (2 July 1903 – 17 January 1951) was a noted Indian playwright, songwriter, poet, writer, filmmaker, social and political activist from Assam. He was considered as Assamese cultural icon, deeply revered for his creative vision and output and is popularly called the Rupkonwar of Assamese culture. In fact, he is regarded as the founder of Assamese cinema for Joymoti (1935). His death anniversary (17 January) is observed as Silpi divas (Artists’ Day) his honor.

Jahnu Barua is an Indian film director. He has written and directed a number of Assamese and Hindi films. Eminent Assamese director and 12-time National Film Award winner Jahnu Barua is known for his socially conscious cinema. Some of his notable films are Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai, Firingoti, Xagoroloi Bohu Door, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara, Konikar Ramdhenu, Baandhon, and Ajeyo.

Zubeen Garg (born Zubeen Borthakur; 18 November 1972) is an Indian singer, music director, composer, lyricist, music producer, actor, film director, film producer, script writer and philanthropist.

Bimal Roy (July 12, 1909 – January 8, 1966) was an Indian film director. He is particularly noted for his realistic and socialistic films such as Do Bigha Zamin (1953), Bandini (1963), Biraj Bahu (1954), Madhumati (1958) which he employed to portray realism.
