Four districts disappeared from Assam

Four districts disappeared from Assam. This brings the number of districts in Assam to 31 instead of the previous 35 districts. The four districts that have disappeared are Bishwanath, Hojai, Bajali and Tamulpur. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held in Delhi.

The Chief Minister of Assam Mr Hemanta Biswa Sharma said that this decision has not been taken for personal gain or party gain, it has to be taken for a very inevitable task. He doesn’t like this decision himself. But sometimes such tough decisions should be taken if necessary in the interest of the country, the administration and the society. He apologizes to the people who have been hurt by that.
