Four new bridges will be constructed over the Champa River in the Chirang district, as announced by Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Today, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a full-day visit to Chirang district and presided over a review meeting aimed at evaluating the progress of key government welfare schemes in the area. While leading the review meeting at the District Commissioner’s Office conference hall in Chirang, the Chief Minister instructed DC Jatin Bora to implement necessary measures to achieve complete saturation of all government development schemes within the district.

During the meeting, he assessed the administrative readiness for the successful execution of Orunodoi 3.0, CMAAA, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, and the distribution of ration cards to qualified beneficiaries. After reviewing the progress made thus far in compiling beneficiary lists under these schemes, the Chief Minister directed the District Commissioner to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is overlooked. He further stressed the importance of taking measures to guarantee that the advantages of these schemes reach the grassroots level.

In evaluating the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan, Dr. Sarma noted that 406 beneficiaries had been included under CMAAA in Chirang district, with plans to expand this number to 1,200 under CMAAA 2.0. Concerning Orunodoi 3.0, he mentioned that the government aims to cover 60,000 beneficiaries in the district under this initiative. While reviewing the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, the Chief Minister instructed the District Commissioner to ensure that the scheme effectively empowers women throughout the district. He also emphasized that no eligible women’s self-help group should be excluded from the benefits of the scheme.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister additionally urged the relevant officials to finalize the beneficiary lists by August 15th, allowing the government to launch the schemes as soon as possible. In reviewing the progress of ration card distribution, he directed the District Commissioner to identify a total of eight thousand eligible families. urthermore, the Chief Minister conducted a review of the connectivity challenges in Chirang district and indicated that, in light of public requests and the difficulties encountered by residents on both banks of River Champa, the State Government would implement suitable actions for the construction of four bridges across the river.

Additionally, he mentioned that under the Asom Mala initiative, numerous significant roads within the district would be enhanced and newly built to bolster overall connectivity. In addressing the drinking water issue, Dr. Sarma assured that the government would promptly undertake necessary actions to tackle the challenges faced by the populace in this area, as stated in a press release.
