Illegal Bhutanese alcohol confiscated during a collaborative raid by the SSB and excise officials at the Indo-Bhutan border.

RANGIA: Under the leadership of HK Gupta, Commandant of the 24th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal Rangia (Assam), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Rangia executed a coordinated operation at the Indo-Bhutan border on Monday. This operation was carried out in partnership with the SSB border outposts located in Guabari and Bimlanagar, as well as the Excise Department of Tamulpur.

During this operation, authorities confiscated 300.12 litres of illicit Bhutanese liquor in Siddhnathpur village, situated within the Indian territory, approximately 14 km from border pillar number 249. Following the operation, the seized illegal liquor was transferred to the Excise Department in Tamulpur.

The operation was initiated based on confidential information and was conducted in the presence of Sub Inspector (General) Birendra Singh and TH Sarat Singh from the Guabari and Bimalnagar border outposts of the 24th Battalion, along with AIE Singa, EC Jyotish Das, Ajay Topo, Bridu Boro, Pintu Deka, Bhaskar Das, Rajib Tiron, and other personnel from the Excise Department, Tamulpur. The 24th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal, Rangia, is actively engaged in such operations to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the security of the Indo-Bhutan border, working in collaboration with local residents. They routinely hold meetings with the community to encourage them to report any suspicious activities or illegal smuggling to the nearest SSB border outpost or battalion headquarters.
