Kamrup DC flags off mobile medical units to boost rural healthcare access

BOKO: On Tuesday, Deba Kumar Mishra, the District Commissioner of Kamrup, inaugurated three state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) at ITC ICML’s factory located in Kukurmara, Kamrup district. Each MMU is equipped with a team of doctors, staff nurses, pharmacists, and community mobilizers. These units will provide free, high-quality medical consultations, essential medications, basic diagnostic tests, and referrals for patients needing advanced medical care.

They are set to assist remote communities in Palasbari, Boko, and Chhaygaon, with a particular emphasis on geriatric care and maternal health for pregnant and lactating women, thereby offering primary healthcare services directly to those in greatest need. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Ajit Das, Joint Director of Health Services in Kamrup, along with Keshav Chadha, the factory manager, Maj Rupam Talukdar, Human Resources Manager, Ravi Bansal, Senior Manager of Rural Health, and Sayan Majee, MSK–North East at ITC ICML. During the flag-off ceremony, Deba Kumar Mishra commended ITC’s efforts in providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare to all community segments. He expressed optimism that this initiative would greatly benefit the residents of the remote areas in South Kamrup.
