Mamata criticizes the creators of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ for inaccurately portraying Khudiram Bose

On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the creators of the Bollywood film Kesari Chapter 2 for purportedly misrepresenting the Bengali revolutionary Khudiram Bose as ‘Khudiram Singh‘. This condemnation was made as she honored the freedom fighter on the anniversary of his death.

In a post on social media, Mamata Banerjee described the misrepresentation as an ‘attack on the Bengali language’ and a disrespect to those who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. I extend my respectful homage on the death anniversary of the revolutionary Khudiram Bose. Allow me to express my thoughts. Recently, in a Hindi film, the revolutionary Khudiram was referred to as ‘Singh’. Why are those who sacrificed their lives for freedom being disrespected? Will the language terrorists even acknowledge the immortal revolutionary Khudiram?” Banerjee questioned.

A controversy arose recently when Khudiram Bose was referred to as Khudiram Singh in the Akshay Kumar film Kesari Chapter 2. In June, an FIR was filed against the film’s producers at the Bidhannagar South police station for allegedly misrepresenting historical figures from West Bengal.
