Pabitra Margherita from Assam will head the Indian delegation at the MATTA Fair 2025 in Malaysia

NEW DELHI: Pabitra Margherita, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, will lead a significant Indian delegation to the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, scheduled for April 18–19, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This initiative is part of the ASEAN-India Tourism Professionals Exchange Programme 2025, which aims to foster tourism collaboration between ASEAN nations and India. This initiative follows the declaration of 2025 as the “ASEAN-India Year of Tourism” during the 21st ASEAN-India Summit held last year. The programme, organized in collaboration with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and supported by the ASEAN-India Fund, aims to enhance regional cooperation while showcasing India’s vast tourism potential, especially in the North-East region.

The Indian delegation will include prominent figures from the tourism industry, such as tour operators and experts, who will present a diverse array of tourism offerings from India. The event is designed to promote mutual understanding, forge professional partnerships, and create new avenues for economic and cultural exchanges between India and ASEAN countries.

In addition to attending the fair, Minister Pabitra Margherita will engage in bilateral discussions with prominent business leaders and members of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia, further strengthening people-to-people connections and trade relations between India and Malaysia.
