In a commendable display of patriotism and unity, the residents of Ward No. 5 in the Sivasagar Municipality have contributed Rs 51,000 to the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund. This donation follows the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the loss of valiant Indian soldiers. The community, deeply affected by this tragedy, has come together to assist the families of the deceased heroes. A delegation from the local community formally presented the cheque to the esteemed Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar. Present at the ceremony were Nawal K Khandelia, Gobin Dutta, Devjyoti Singh, Mayur Bora, Anupal Das, Gopal Chandak, Paban Kumar Pokhrel, Papu Baruah, and Idris Ali.
Concurrently, several condolence ceremonies were held across various locations in the West Karbi Anglong district to honor the victims of the Pahalgam attack. A significant event occurred at Kheroni Charali’s Shiv Mandir, organized by the Karbi Anglong Hindi Bhashi Sanstha and Karbi Anglong Hindi Bhashi Chhatra Sanstha. Additionally, a ceremony at Ranaima Bill was presided over by Amar Bahadur Singh, with Secretary Ajay Chauhan and Advisor Pradip Kalita overseeing the proceedings. Senior BJP member Kedar Sahu from the BJP Booth Committee Ranaima (131) also attended, showing support for the families of the victims.
