The cultural department is hosting a 10-day summer workshop in Haflong.

HAFLONG: The cultural affairs department, in partnership with the Dima Hasao district administration, is set to host a 10-day summer workshop at the Govt Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Haflong, commencing on Wednesday. These workshops, organized in accordance with government directives, are taking place across all 126 Legislative Assembly constituencies (LACs) in Assam, including Dima Hasao.

Assam’s Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, Nandita Gorlosa, was present at the ceremonial inauguration of the program alongside District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das, ACS. This initiative by the cultural affairs department aims to integrate students’ activities with cultural, physical, and extracurricular education. Over the next ten days, all participants will engage in mandatory yoga sessions lasting approximately one hour, instructed by the esteemed Yoga Teacher Phaiham Kemprai. This will be followed by various sessions designed to enhance knowledge on health awareness, drug abuse prevention, recreational activities, traditional Dimasa Baidima, Bihu dances and songs, career counseling, and more. Each session will be facilitated by subject matter experts appointed by the department.

In her inspiring address, Assam Minister Nandita Gorlosa emphasized the importance of setting high aspirations and encouraged students not to feel inferior for attending government schools. She urged them to take full advantage of the resources provided by the government. She highlighted that the current venue for their workshop has been a breeding ground for IAS and IPS officers, as well as numerous successful individuals. District Commissioner Simanta Kr Das reiterated that the 10-day schedule was crafted with the students’ enjoyment in mind, encouraging them to maximize their experience and to communicate with the organizers if they wish to incorporate any additional skills or classes into the sessions.
