The Golden Jubilee of the Bhotpara-Polashpathar Bohagi Utsav was commemorated in Assam

The Bhotpara-Polashpathar Bohagi Utsav in Dhekiajuli celebrated its Golden Jubilee with exceptional grandeur and cultural richness at the Bhotpara Stadium. Over five days, the festival showcased the vibrant culture and community spirit of Assam, attracting thousands from various backgrounds. The opening day was particularly significant, featuring the honored presence of Shankar Das, Education Secretary of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) for Sonitpur District.

His arrival was warmly welcomed by both organizers and attendees, highlighting his crucial influence on the cultural and educational landscape of the Sonitpur area. In his motivational speech, Shankar Das praised the Utsav’s 50-year legacy as a testament to Assamese resilience, identity, and unity. He noted, “The enduring essence of this festival across generations is a source of pride not only for Bhotpara and Polashpathar but for all of Assam.” He emphasized the importance of youth in preserving traditions, urging AASU members and the younger generation to actively participate in cultural conservation.

“May Bihu continue to act as a bridge of harmony among all,” he concluded, receiving enthusiastic applause. The subsequent days maintained the festive spirit with a variety of cultural and competitive events. On the third day, a grand cultural procession was led by retired bank officer Dhruvajyoti Chakravarty. A state-level open Bihu competition featured eight outstanding teams, with the Biswanath Regional Bihu Team taking first place, followed by the Rupjyoti Regional Bihua Team and the Friendship Club Bihua Team. The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Sukdev Adhikari, Principal of Lokanayak Amiya Kumar Das College.
