GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating that Guwahati and several areas across Assam will be subjected to a period of rainy weather beginning Tuesday, April 15, and lasting until Monday, April 21. According to the IMD’s daily weather bulletin, there is a considerable chance of thunderstorms and lightning, with certain regions likely to experience strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. Over the past 24 hours, many parts of Assam have already seen light to moderate rainfall.
Meteorologists anticipate that Guwahati and its neighboring areas will remain predominantly cloudy, with intermittent rain and thundershowers expected throughout the week. Daytime temperatures are projected to hover around 31°C, while nighttime lows may dip to approximately 22°C. The short-term weather outlook suggests that this pattern of moderate rainfall will persist across various regions of the state in the coming days, accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, particularly in isolated locations. In light of the anticipated weather conditions, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, urging residents to exercise caution, especially as festive celebrations are set to take place during this period. The department emphasizes the importance of safety in light of the expected weather activity.
