TEZPUR: Darrang College has made another important advancement by receiving autonomous status from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The newly established Examination Controller’s office at the college was inaugurated by Narayan Konwar, IAS, Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam, in the presence of senior officials from the department.
The event commenced with a formal welcome from the newly appointed Controller of Examinations, Dr. Swapnali Devi.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Secretary Narayan Konwar toured the office and engaged with the faculty.
Subsequently, he presided over a significant meeting with the principals of prominent colleges in the Sonitpur district.
Among those in attendance were Dr. Palashmoni Saikia, Principal of Darrang College, Dr. Manoj Kumar Hazarika, Principal of Tezpur College, Dr. Tapan Kumar Kalita, Principal of LOKD Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Dr. Ranjan Kalita, Principal of Rangapara College – Autonomous, Dr. Sukdev Adhikari, Principal of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, Dhekiajuli, and Dr. Ajit Hazarika, Principal of Tyagbir Hem Baruah College, Jamugurihat.
