The creators of the Manoj Bajpayee-led film ‘Inspector Zende’ released the teaser on Monday. The film, which is loosely based on a true story, is both written and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, with production by Jay Shewakramani and Om Raut. It is set to stream on Netflix starting September 5.
Manoj Bajpayee portrays the astute Zende, who is engaged in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with Jim Sarbh’s charming yet elusive character, Carl Bhojraj. He is joined by seasoned actors Sachin Khedekar and Bhalchandra Kadam, along with Harish Dudhade, Onkar Raut, Bharat Savale, and Nitin Bhajan, who form Zende’s reliable team. Girija Oak and Vaibhav Mangale also play significant roles, and their camaraderie, along with witty exchanges, makes the pursuit both entertaining and intense. The thrilling chase unfolds across various cities and culminates in Goa, where sharp instincts and effective teamwork lead to Carl’s dramatic capture. Reflecting on his experience in ‘Inspector Zende’, Manoj Bajpayee remarked, “What intrigued me about Inspector Zende was that he wasn’t seeking fame — he was simply performing his duty, yet he managed to apprehend one of the most infamous criminals twice. His courage, humor, and that distinct Mumbai essence render his journey genuinely inspiring. Meeting him felt akin to stepping into a narrative filled with countless stories. Portraying him allowed me to immerse myself in a realm that is as gritty as it is captivating. The trailer merely offers a glimpse — the film immerses you directly into its core.”
