Two students from Dibrugarh will represent Assam at the National Youth Parliament in Odisha

In a significant achievement for Assam, two students from DHSK College in Dibrugarh, Sahil Ansari and Afrid Ahmed Borah, have been selected to represent the state at the esteemed National Youth Parliament 2025. They are the sole representatives from Assam for this national event. The National Youth Parliament is set to occur from May 26 to May 30 in Konark, Odisha, with the primary session on May 27.

This event gathers young individuals from across the nation to deliberate on national development, engage in policy discussions, and partake in cultural exchanges under the theme ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’ The selection of Sahil and Afrid underscores Dibrugarh’s increasing visibility in national youth platforms and demonstrates the region’s dedication to fostering young leaders. The pair will collaborate with representatives from all states, sharing their insights and ideas on shaping India’s future.

Additionally, Dr. Bitap Raj Kalita from the Department of Physics and Centre for Atmospheric Physics at Dibrugarh University was invited to participate in a national meeting regarding the performance appraisal and data release of Aditya L1 on January 6, 2025, at the ISRO Headquarters in Bengaluru. He is the only scientist from Assam and the Northeast to receive an invitation to this national gathering. Aditya L1 serves as India’s dedicated solar observatory, located at the first Lagrange point (L1) in the Sun-Earth system.
