Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Chhaava’ has been leaked online, prompting the police to file a case

An FIR has been filed regarding the piracy of the film ‘Chhaava,’ which stars Vicky Kaushal. The Mumbai Police reported that the complainant, Rajat Rahul Haksar, the CEO of August Entertainment—an anti-piracy agency engaged by Maddock Films—identified ‘1,818 internet links’ that were used to illegally distribute the period drama.

As a result, a case has been registered at the South Cyber Police Station under CR No. 23/2025, citing violations of Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 51, 63, and 65A of the Copyright Act, Section 6AA of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (Amendment 2023), and Sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology Act. ‘Chhaava’ has achieved remarkable success at the box office, surpassing the Rs 500 crore milestone. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film, which depicts the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, also features Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in prominent roles.

This achievement has made ‘Chhaava’ Vicky Kaushal’s highest-grossing film, exceeding the earnings of his previous hits: ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike,’ ‘Raazi,’ ‘Sam Bahadur,’ and ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the film’s success, commending it during the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi. He highlighted Maharashtra’s contributions to cinema, stating, “Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai.” He also credited the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj to the Marathi author Shivaji Sawant’s novel ‘Chhava.’ In response to this recognition, Vicky Kaushal shared PM Modi’s comments on Instagram, expressing, “Honoured beyond words! Grateful to Hon. PM Narendra Modi Ji. #Chhaava.” (ANI)
